Function Health vs Superpower vs InsideTracker: Biomarkers, Care Team and Price Compared
Function Health, Superpower and InsideTracker come up often when people ask whether a blood-testing membership is worth it. This page compares what each company says on its own public pages, re-checked on October 20, 2026, on the points people ask about most: how many biomarkers are tested, how often, what access to clinicians is described, what the reports include and what it costs. It is not a ranking or recommendation, and we have not tested or audited any company. Everything here is 'according to the company'; features and prices change often, so confirm on the company's site before buying. Rules for consumer-ordered lab tests vary by state, and some tests or services are unavailable in some states (New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island are often restricted). Results are general information, not medical advice; discuss them with a licensed clinician. Some companies also offer clinician consultations, supplements or other services; this page covers only their testing. Sponsored placement, if any, is labeled and does not change this information or any evidence rating.
Biomarkers and testing frequency
Function Health says its membership includes 160+ lab tests a year across two visits. Superpower says it includes 100+ biomarkers from one blood draw a year, with follow-up tests available to add. InsideTracker says its Ultimate Blood Test looks at up to 54 biomarkers and sells multi-test bundles. Companies count tests and biomarkers differently, so the numbers are not directly comparable, and more biomarkers is not the same as more useful results.
Care-team access
Function Health says clinicians review every result and provide a summary. Superpower says each test comes with a clinician-reviewed plan and lists 24/7 care-team access alongside an AI assistant. On the InsideTracker pages we reviewed, recommendations are software-generated and clinician access is not described. These are the companies' descriptions, not an assessment of quality.
Price model
As listed on the checked date, Function Health is $365 a year, Superpower starts at $199 a year (an at-home draw costs extra), and InsideTracker sells a membership plus one Ultimate Blood Test for $489, with bundles of two or four tests. Check what each price includes, such as draws, add-on tests and retests.
What research says
Cardiovascular prevention guidelines recommend specific tests, such as lipid panels, as part of risk assessment. A Cochrane review of general health checks found they are unlikely to reduce illness or death, and broad panels can return borderline results that lead to more testing. Individual tests can still be useful; discuss results with your clinician.
Order and sponsorship
Companies are listed alphabetically in the table, not by merit. Sponsored placement, if any, is labeled and never changes the information here or any evidence rating.
FAQ
Is Function Health worth it?
That depends on what you want from testing and what your own clinician already orders. Function Health says it offers 160+ lab tests a year for $365. Research on general health checks has not shown a reduction in illness or death, so it can help to ask a clinician which tests make sense for you before buying any panel.
Which has the most biomarkers?
Of these three, Function Health lists the highest count (160+ lab tests a year). Superpower lists 100+ biomarkers a year and InsideTracker up to 54 per Ultimate Blood Test. Counting methods differ between companies.
Do any of them include a doctor?
Function Health and Superpower both describe clinician review of results. Clinician access was not described on the InsideTracker pages we reviewed. None of these services replaces your own doctor.
Are they available in every state?
Not always. Function Health's FAQ says it is not yet offered in Rhode Island, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. Superpower lists state availability on its site. Check the company's current terms for your state.
Is this medical advice?
No. This page is general information. Talk to a licensed clinician before acting on any test result.
