Force Plates and Movement Analysis Tools Compared
This page lists what each company says on its own public pages, checked on October 16, 2026. It is not a ranking or recommendation, and we have not tested or audited any product. Everything in the table is 'according to the company'; features and prices change often, so confirm on the company's site. Force plates measure how force is applied to the ground during jumps and other tests; motion-capture and video tools analyze how the body moves. Published studies address reliability and agreement of some force-plate metrics and one markerless system, not whether a product improves training or injury outcomes. Measurement accuracy varies by device, protocol and user. Results are general information, not medical advice or a diagnosis; medical decisions need a licensed clinician.

| Company / product | Who it's for | What it measures | Form factor | Price (as published) | Evidence rating (of the topic) | Company pages |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dartfish | Coach, clinic or school | Video capture and annotation of movement for technical and tactical review; the company also offers a healthcare solution and live game analysis | Video analysis software and apps | Not published on the pages we reviewed; contact the company | Evidence rating: Not rated Video movement-analysis software | |
| Hawkin Dynamics | Coach, clinician or team | Force-plate testing, with left/right (bilateral) asymmetry data on the dual-plate system | Portable force plates: a single wired starter plate up to a dual wireless plate system, with software | Not published on the pages we reviewed; the company describes the single plate as having an "accessible price" but lists no figure | 3/5 Mixed Force-plate jump testing (e.g., countermovement jump metrics) | |
| Theia3D markerless motion capture | Researcher, clinic or performance lab | Markerless 3D motion capture and biomechanics: the company says it tracks 124 keypoints with under 1 cm and 3° precision | Multi-camera video system with Theia3D software; people can wear everyday clothing | Not published on the pages we reviewed; contact the company | 2/5 Limited Markerless (camera-based) 3D motion capture | |
| Uplift Labs | Coach, clinic or team | Smartphone-based 3D motion capture and AI movement analysis (kinematics and key metrics), according to the company | iPhone-based capture with AI analysis and reporting; the company positions it as an alternative to lab motion-capture setups | Not published on the pages we reviewed; contact the company | 2/5 Limited Markerless (camera-based) 3D motion capture | |
| VALD ForceDecks | Coach, clinician or team | The company says ForceDecks detects 20+ movements including jumps, isometric strength and balance tests, with asymmetry and center of pressure data | Portable force plates with an app, optional camera sync (ForceDecks Vision) and accessories | Not published on the pages we reviewed; contact the company | 3/5 Mixed Force-plate jump testing (e.g., countermovement jump metrics) |
Not medical advice or a diagnosis. Measurement accuracy varies by device, protocol and user, and published validation studies cover only some products. Medical decisions need a licensed clinician. Evidence ratings describe research on the topic, not any company, and no company is scored. Looking for training equipment? See Training Equipment. Sponsored placement, if any, is labeled and does not change this information or any rating.
How to read the table
Most of these products are sold to coaches, clinics, teams or researchers, and most do not publish prices on the pages we reviewed. Where a price is not shown we say so rather than estimate one.
What the research says
Test-retest studies report that jump height and peak force are reliable countermovement jump metrics while rate of force development is less so, and a comparison across commercial plates found acceptable agreement for some metrics and bias for others. We rate force-plate jump testing 3 of 5 and markerless motion capture 2 of 5 (one study, with vendor-affiliated authors); video-analysis software is Not rated. Ratings describe the research on the topic, not any company.
Practical considerations
Metrics differ between systems, so compare like with like. Test outputs do not diagnose or predict injury; discuss pain or injury with a clinician.
FAQ
Can force plates predict injuries?
The studies we cite address reliability and agreement of metrics, not injury prediction. Discuss injury concerns with a clinician.
Is smartphone motion capture as accurate as a lab system?
We found no independent published validation for the products listed here. The one study we cite concerns a multi-camera markerless system during treadmill walking.
